alfayed.com
review by: Jason Bradbury

As we know only too well on this show, the web is responsible for some truly weird and wacky creations - from farting Cartman post cards to philosophical Frank Butcher. So, without further ado, I give you Alfayed.com

Let‘s get this straight; I’ve got nothing against the bloke (except that he charges to take a pee in Harrods). But why does he need his own website? While it’s fascinating to peruse the ‘Business Interests’ of Mr Fayed and learn of his two corporate airlines, football club and Scottish estate, surely the very fact that he owns Punch magazine – a reality hit well and truly home in the ‘Thoughts of Chairman Mo’ section – means he already has a loud and substantial voice. Maybe he just craves attention and needs to be liked. I note that there are surprisingly few critical entries in his otherwise sycophantic post-bag (or should that be sick-bag?).

While the ‘Public Eye’ tab reveals some very engrossing snippets in which Peter Mandleson for one is ravaged, you’re still left with the unnerving sense that Mr AlFayed’s failed passport application is driving his criticism of the government.

For Princess Diana fans this site is very useful, yielding as it does some insightful news and photographic material, and a detailed ‘Dodi and Diana’ section. Mr AF’s well-publicised conspiracy theories over the deaths are covered, but I leave it to you to decide if they’re products of a father’s grief or something more sinister.
