PerlScript (ASP) demo
PerlScript combines the server-side functionality of VBScript (including database integration) with the impressive text-processing capabilities of Perl.
Alert readers will note that the demo form below calls an action page with the extension '.asp'. The script language used, however, is not native ASP (VBScript), but PerlScript. This illustrates the power of ASPs themselves - the technology offers a range of scripting options.PerlScript combines the server-side functionality of VBScript (including database integration) with the impressive text-processing capabilities of Perl. It is therefore a viable solution when a lot of text-handling is in order (for example, electronic publishing), for sites where there is considerable Perl code already in existence (where it may be cheaper to convert the existing programs) or for Perl developers who wish to keep using their hard-won Perl scripting skills.
